Hi, I’m Frankie, an extremely playful black lab mix! I was surrendered down south and made my way up to the caring people in Iowa to start fresh. I’ve spent my entire 5+ years with my best friend, Fiona. We get along great and have so much fun playing together, but we're not as emotionally bonded as some pairs. While we may thrive in separate homes, finding a home together would be absolutely amazing!
Home Requirements I’d love a home with a fenced yard where I can run and play! Please please PLEASE throw the ball! the frisbee! Anything! I will bring it back to you and drop it for the next round! While I’ve spent most of my life with Fiona and am very comfortable with her, I can be a bit unsure about interacting with other dogs. A patient, experienced family who can help me (and Fiona!) build confidence with other pets and continue our engagement and consistency training would be perfect.
Training & Energy I’m very well-behaved in my crate, I generally don’t bark or whine. I also have great house manners: I’m potty-trained, respect gates, and don’t scratch at doors or windows when I need to go out. I know a variety of commands like "sit," "shake," and "down," and I’m eager to learn more because I LOVE treats! I could use some help with my leash manners since I get excited on walks, but I’m a quick learner. I’m also full of energy and would love an active family who can provide plenty of playtime and exercise. I take a tiny bit longer to warm up to my people than Fiona but give me a week or so to decompress and figure out bouncing to a new place, and then I will start to cuddle and love you. But I will chase toys and bring them back to you on day 1!!!
Size I’m a medium-sized pup, weighing approximately 50 lbs.
